Missing Tuesday

I know I missed yesterday, I think that in hind sight I will not be posting a sketch every Tuesday. I want the sketches to be original and I don’t want to repeat myself, so I am going to do a sketch every two weeks instead.

OK Wednesdays Colour inspiration and as a bonus a freebie.

Now I don’t like purple very much as a colour, I don’t use it wear it or scrap with it. So I thought as a challenge I would find a variation on purple that I do like and I think plum is it for me, subtle purple.

Anyway I have seen a post on another web site that I like it is Color me Inspired and the post is about using purple, along with some really elegant free tags.

Friday’s Inspiration

Magazines, I find them inspiring, even if I don’t like the content, I can find inspiration in the design, layout colours, photography, text and fonts.
What is even better is that a lot of the mags have web sites that you can get a summary preview of the current months publication.

So get inspired and pick a mag of the shelf that wouldn’t normally get your attention, I recently got some great ideas from a surfing magazine, the adverts in there were great, both for content and colour.

I just love display fonts, can’t get enough of them, but I do tend to use the same ones over and over.

I’m a big fan of titles done in a combination of block display font and cursive script font.

Colour Inspiration

Having been trained as a graphic designer, the Pantone swatch book was my bible, that was in the days of yore when designers drew with a pen onto paper at a drawing board, when men were made of steel and ships were made of wood (said in a broad Yorkshire accent) SORRY just getting a little carried away there, ANYWAY, before designing on computers was the norm !!

But I have since discovered that pantone has a great website, full of colour and inspiration
give it a whirl… here

Just for Autumn

Lets Scrapbook

OK, I have put up a sketch on the sketch page its simple as always and as always its just a basis for your layout, which means you can embellish til the cows come home OR leave it as is, your choice. Couple of challenges with this one, tilting the photo, I know, you either like it or hate it, but give it a try and overlapping onto the photo, again a like it or hate it quirk.

Hope it inspires you and if it does send me a scan or photo of your layout and I’ll put it in the gallery.

Monday again

OK so I’m not doing so well with the daily posting … LIFE is seriously getting in the way these last few weeks, but I AM going to do better.

Its a set of square speech bubbles that look great on layouts or used individually as card toppers.Just print them onto card cut them out and you are good to go.

No Excuses

Well maybe just one … I have been busy, one week just seemed to roll on into the next, a week away followed by a major family birthday and more time away then back to school and some unscheduled PAID work.

Anyway excuses aside, I am back and wanting to get the blog back upto speed, so look out for a freebie tomorrow and a sketch on Tuesday
