Its FRIDAY !

Shame about the weather … par for the course on a three day weekend in England !

OK, so, plans do I have any, yes indeedy I do, I am doing nothing, well not nothing at all just nothing specific, Saturday my MIL is coming for lunch to celebrate her birthday, Sunday is scheduled to be WET so I think I can feel a day doing scrap stuff coming on, I will sell it to the boys as a PJ-do what you please-as long as the homework is done-day

OK and to finish with here is a Freebie Font on Friday

I really like this fonts hand drawn look, but the fact that it is light means it has a lot more versatility. if you want to download the free version here it is sketchetik light

The sky is sulking …

We have been seriously spoilt this last few weeks with the lovely, warm, mostly sunny weather we have had and now it looks like the sky is sulking, it has gone a broody shade of grey and is threatening to cry !

I am still plugging along with my week in the life, nothing to show yet, too much “other stuff” to get out of the way first but this weekend is going to be “that ” weekend where I get some stuff I want to do done, rather than the stuff I need to do, plus we have the luxury of the three day weekend, love it !

Saw this over on “I do it yourself ” blog and thought I like it its, colourful, its free and its typographic, all the boxes checked, plus I think it would look great in my week in the life album, its a nice sentiment.

You can find it here

Middle of the week again !

Here we are again… two more days til the weekend (I’m not counting today)

Uber-simple day intro pages
I have done a daily intro page its for 8.5 x 11 format , the idea is you add a landscape photo across the top and then some journaling in the bottom box, there is a second option too, where the journaling box has been omitted and you just have the day and date in case you want to use a larger portrait photo.

If anyone is interested I will add these as a set of pdfs Monday-Sunday, just let me know in the comments “with journaling box” or “without journaling box”

Tuesday, a day where NOTHING got done !

Do you ever have one of those thoroughly dissatisfying days where nothing really gets done?
Well I had one of those today, it was very “bitty” Don’t get me wrong I didn’t sit around all day drinking tea, eating biscuits, and surfing the web, fat chance, but I don’t have anything to say “today I did …”

After dropping of the boys at school I walked the dog, went to the post office, queued, bought stamps, posted letters, went to the bank, queued, paid in cheques, went to the supermarket, queued, bought cereal, came home, loaded washing machine, hung out washing, went to school, visited doctors, picked up prescriptions, went to pharmacy, queued, came home had a cup of tea, walked dog, went back to school, picked up boys, came home, made another cup of tea…..

WOW how exciting to be ME !! (self portrait warts and all)

Will be publishing the template for my large photo/daily intro pages later – watch this space

Monday Madness ?

Will there be any, doubtful … back to routine after a fairly chilled weekend

Lots of work to catch up on this morning before knuckling down to the format of my “week in the life” album, Haven’t purchased the album yet but have got the divided page protectors and the 8 x 11.5 ones.
I am going to go with a simple format potentially just 2 or 3 pages per day, large photo, divided page and a collection of photos page ? If I am short on photos I might not even use the divided protectors, I have taken over 100 photos now, just, I like to think I am being selective about what I photograph ! anyway its still an average of 14 point something photos a day so I think I can work with that.

I like my blog posts to have an image so I added this one, I took it on Friday when I went for a haircut, its just round the corner from the hairdressers and it practically screams springtime at you.

Beginning of the weekend

Well it is for me as I don’t usually work on a Friday, I still do my lunchtime job but not my main part time job.

SO, I’m starting off with an early morning haircut, always makes me feel better about myself when my hair has been licked into shape, hope they won’t mind me taking my camera in there with me !!

I still haven’t been very prolific with my photograph taking, it just means that when it comes to doing my “week in the life” pages I won’t get caught up with choice issues when it comes to selecting the images. I am also going to format a grid style layout for my pages so that I remove another stumbling block, the “where shall I put this one” decision and I’m not going to caught up in the “oh no I didn’t take that photo on Tuesday so I can’t use it on Tuesday’s page” scenario either, I may even take more photos next week to fill in any gaps … S-H-O-C-K-E-R

As the weather is going to be gorgeous I am aiming to get the kids to a photogenic location and take a portrait of each of them to go with a questionnaire I have done for them to fill in for me. I might even try and get the DH in on the act too plus I am going to attempt a self timed family shot too.

Should be a nice stress free weekend then …. Pigs have just requested a flight path at Gatwick !!

Right onward …

HAPPY ST GEORGE’S DAY

Nothing to do with scrap booking… really

Actually it is a little bit…

I love type, its my “thing” I spent the whole last year of my design degree exploring typographic designs.

Where ever possible I like to include a type element to my scrapbook pages and I am always on the look out for typographic inspiration.

I came across this site that has nothing to do with scrapbooking, but has some seriously great typography combined with fab graphics and photos and some sentiments too, the music is very mellow … Loving it !!

orbasquara

It also links quite nicely to the “week in the life” theme as this is all about a journey from Portland Oregon to New York, incidentally both places I have been fortunate enough to visit.

Love this slide from the site.

Wednesday already !!

Well I have been taking photos every day (one small step ….) and making notes about what my day entails (b-o-r-i-n-g) I thought I was doing really well, but having taken a tour round some of the other “a week in the lifers” I am starting to think that I have definitely not taken any where near enough photos, embarrassingly I have only taken 50 photos in three days and that is including duplicates “uh oh” I may be spending the next four days catching up, photographically that is.

Guess what ? I am not going to let that stop me, I am just going to adjust the way I present my week, it will be more of an over view as opposed to a blow by blow account !!

Taking part in this “challenge” has made me realise that the photos I take are all about details, I prefer zoomed in shots of one or two people rather than large group shots, I like to focus on aspects of a building rather than a shot of the building in its entirety, close up shots not wide angle or panoramic.

I guess what I am saying is forgive me next week when (if) I start sharing my daily photos if a lot of them are very similar in their treatment, angle etc …

I am sharing this one here because this is very me, the way I take photos and I love the bright SOTC colours.

AND for those of you who wanted them, I have added the daily journal cards to my freebies section, thanks for commenting.

I made these today

OK, I know that they are simple but they are what I needed and they fit into my divided page protecters, the ones I have are trading card sheets from WHSmith.

I am sharing them here if there is enough demand then I will post the pdf for them, just let me know in the comments that you are interested.

The actual size is 6.5cm x 9cm (to the cutting line)
