Multi Tasking and Housework

I love to spout about how I am the only person in this house that is capable of multi tasking, mostly as I am the only one in possession of the XX chromosome in our family.

AND it is true I can multi task, I can talk on the phone, cook dinner and load and unload the dishwasher all at the same time.

BUT it seems that when I have to focus all my energies on one thing, organising a conference for work or meeting a magazine deadline, that multi tasking gene takes a break.

I had a conference this weekend, So unfortunately I didn’t do any housework last week and my house looks like this today. Go figure !

Photography

I studied photography as part of my arts degree, I used a 35mm film camera, I was adept at loading my own film into cartridges, F stops, apertures, shutter speeds, iso and manual focusing. I used to develop my film, create contact sheets and print my own photos, PHEW !

Now I own a very nice DSLR a Nikon and several very useful lenses, and I still love to take photos.

But I use this camera like a very expensive point and shoot !!

I actually think that the dial is stuck on AUTO and M means “must not use”

If you are like me and want to be able to get your camera off the auto setting, check out Cheryl’s online photography course over at feel good photos

Definitely worth a visit.

Freebie Fonts

I love fonts and free is always a winner with me, over on write.click.scrapbook at the moment Lisa, another typography nut is hosting and she has listed a great selection of sites that do free downloadable fonts, so get your scrapbooking butts over there and check them out.

I want to use some of those classic manilla luggage type tags on some of my projects at the moment so I am trying to come up with a template to cut out on my cricut, but I just can’t get the sizing right. might have to purchase a pack as a sample.

I am working on a layout about glasses at the moment, both my Hubby and the boys wear glasses and their eye tests all fall within a couple of months, the boys glasses are still relatively reasonable, price wise, but Oh My Goodness does my Hubby make up for that !! anyway I thought I might take close ups of their new frames and scrap them all on one layout… just an idea ….

love this photo of my smallest when he first got his glasses.

A Layout

Ok so I did this one a little while ago, but I have only just finished it, the photos are from last year, I used a sketch from Shimelle, it was part of her Party challenge weekend but I didn’t get it finished in time to submit it to her so I thought I would share it here. The premise was to use four squares of patterned paper as your background, something I wouldn’t normally do as I find it distracts from the photos.
I still haven’t added any journaling yet, but that’;s always my stumbling block, it will get some eventually.

Hope you like

Everything is disjointed

I’m having one of those days, actually I’m having one of those weekends….

Even though the weather is R-U-B-B-I-S-H again, I did have great plans ….

I feel like I am wadding through porridge right now. I want to shout at my self “Snap out of it !”

Do you ever have days like that, I’m sure that plenty of people do. I have to say I feel quite disorientated.

I am sat here in clothes that a hobo would look twice at, seriously, my kids are still in their PJ’s and its 12.15 ! Does it really matter I ask myself, home work has been done, washing is on the line, dishwasher has been loaded and switched on hoovering is done, I have even cleaned my teeth, so not all bad.

I would normally step into a nice invigorating shower and put on clean clothes do my hair and give myself a bit of a talking to then just get on with the day, except my shower is, in the words of my 10yr old nephew “the worst shower I have ever used”

So instead I am going to scald the funk away with a very hot deep bath.

In other news, I had a couple of layouts chosen for the Autumn issue of Scrapbook Inspirations (quarterly) which I am quite pleased about.

I am gradually getting my week in the life album done, thanks to a prompt delivery of cardstock from Cardinal Colours. I have really enjoyed seeing all the different ways that other scrappers have tackled this project

Here is how my simple intro pages are looking.

No card stock

Okay, still no card stock to continue my current project, I found this great card stock site and they still had some of the “very ancient but much loved by yours truly” brilliant white corduroy textured white card. Thank You Cardinal Colours, I have ordered some and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

I have made some progress I have done the “large picture only” intro pages for each day using the photos that I have been posting on here over the last week or so. I even used a photo of one of DH’s remote controlled planes, well I do like to be seen supporting his hobby too.

I did tweak this photo just a tad, I ran PW’s colorise action on it and I really like the effect.

Week in the life

I am still struggling to put this together … I started with 8.5×11 because (a) I have a load of the AC page protectors in that size (b) I fancied a change from 12×12 and (c) I wanted to print directly onto my card stock.

However, when I started to put all this together this past weekend, I hated the 8.5×11 pages I created, bum, bum, bum !! Imagine a whole lot of wasted card stock that I had already cut to 8.5×11 in preparation for this project.

So I went back to what I know and started again with 12×12 page, order more card stock, re think album, layout and journaling !!

another one of my leader page photos, my youngest singing his heart out pre breakfast, still in his PJ’s and dressing gown !!
