Collective GASP !!

I MADE A MINI BOOK !!

I know not quite earth shattering, doesn’t rank right up there with world peace or anything but it is a major biggie for me. I don’t do mini albums, or any albums really, recently, I start lots but never get much past the planning stage.

Not only is this album a mini, it doesn’t have page protectors (do what!) and I have no idea what photos are going in it.

HELP me ….

What you have to bear in mind is I always start with my photos and then I pick papers accordingly then I embellish then I add journaling.

I made this one as a gift for my sisters boys, we are going to be spending time with them again this summer having a bucket and spade holiday. we, my husband and I, always take tons of photos when we visit, my sister takes NONE, so I always give her a CD with them all on when we leave.

This time I thought I would prep a mini book (okay breaking out in a cold sweat)before we went and put one representative photo from each day in it along with some notes on the day.

I have used a combination of 6×6 chipboard pages and 6×6 scalloped acrylic pages, the chipboard ones are covered in patterned paper and the acrylic ones I have stuck a library style card and pocket on with the day date and month pre printed on them.

I’m still having palpitations about the photos not going with the paper I have chosen, but I am self medicating and I think I will survive (I could still have a patterned paper induced break down at my sisters which wouldn’t be pretty, but its unlikely)

I am going to print off the days photo at the end of each day and stick it on the chipboard pages and then journal on the library cards… job done.

I may add a couple of 6×6 envelopes into the mix and take some “spare” pages in case I end up with more photos, but I’m keeping it simple under embellished and easy to execute.

I enjoyed doing this too, so I may scare myself stupid and do another one for myself !!

Here are a few photos, its OK my sister doesn’t visit my blog !

GB travel tags

These are my version of some travel tags/journaling cards with a couple of specific British related ones thrown in for good measure.

These can be either printed and cut to look like luggage tags or kept rectangular and used as journaling cards, they also look great reduced ( pick a smaller paper size when printing like A5) so that they are more like small tickets.

All the usual applies © 2010 Scrapbook Printables, The Graphic Scrapper Designs. All rights reserved. For personal use only. Reselling this file or the printed tags is not permitted.

Please do not abuse the “freebies”

More “British” Summer related stuff coming this weekend, I’m working on some phrases and words.

In the mean time enjoy these tags/cards download them here, and please leave a comment.

Exclusive Travel Tags

OK I know more tags !!

I felt inspired … I designed these to use on some of my summer pages and a mini book or two that I am going to attempt (don’t hold your breath)

I printed the test ones out on white and cream plain card stock, let me have some feedback in the comments if you print them out on different colours.

After looking at a lot of the summer and travel products from the main scrapbook manufacturers I decided to add a British twist to my next lot of summer freebies… stay tuned, watch this space etc. etc .

Let me know what you think of my designs, don’t be shy comments and suggestions always welcome, play nice, don’t be mean, constructive criticism accepted.

Freebie number 2, more tickets

OK here is number two ticket… Special Event

This is very effective printed on various background cardstock, non textured gives the best effect, Cream, white, very pale blue, grey and a pale dusky pink are the most successful colours so far.

I finished them off by trimming the top and bottom with stamp edge decorative scissors and then nipped all the corners off with the edge of a circle punch.

Exclusive Freebie

So, I spent some time yesterday designing my own vintage tickets.

please note that the price is in old English Money, its not a typo

I created a PDF for you with two different sizes on it. They look great printed off on plain kraft cardstock and also to get a more vintage feel I tried printing them onto slightly distressed colour washed paper too.

I really enjoyed creating these and I am definitely planning on doing some more, contact me if you have any suggestions.

If you use these add a link to your project in the comments section.

You can download them here.

I don’t do vintage …

I really don’t think that needs clarifying, I am all about clean, simple and graphic. BUT I do have a weakness for tickets, I have made my own and have plans to make some downloadable ones specifically for this blog and its small select readership.

Paper Valise is a great place for real vintage tickets though. Adore the “admit one 5 cents” version.

Lots more eye candy on this site.

Much needed relief …

A much cooler and breezy day today, very definitely a relief, we are SO not equipped for ANY extremes of weather at all.

Just finished a little something for issue 78 of Papercraft Inspirations and now looking down the thin end of the school summer term. Anticipating some lovely uninterrupted summer days.

Beach House Northumberland August 2009

As I’m sure I have said before I really appreciate the peace and quiet of the empty house, but I still go in and out of the house three times during the school day, morning drop off, lunchtimes, helping at school and then school pick up in the afternoons.

This gives me very short windows of opertunity to complete things and I always seem to be rushing to get things done or not even starting things because I know I haven’t got time to finish them.

So many projects I would love to complete this holiday, need to be careful not to over commit. Easier said then done.

Love the idea of doing a really simple summer mini album like this one from Molly Irwin.

I wouldn’t be doing anything as messy as painting, but I like the premise of filling in the “senses” sheet and adding photos… nothing else , job done !

Adhesives, to Herma or not …

Ever since I started scrapbooking in 2004 I have used herma glue dot rollers, my friend who got me into scrapping gave me a roller with repositionable herma dots in it and I never really bought anything else, occasionally I used double sided sticky tape or herma tabs in a roller, but I always went back to my glue dot roller.

Recently I haven’t been scrapping much if at all, no particular reason, I have also downsized my scrap stuff to the point where I now have less supplies than when I first started, which means I don’t spend a lot of time in scrap shops and so don’t stock up on herma very regularly.

I do however buy stationary supplies for work and whilst looking for re-writeable cds, I came across the Pritt glue roller, which like herma comes in non permanent and permanent. So I bought some to trial.

Not used it much as I have only had it a couple of days but so far I am impressed and it does have an advantage over the herma dots, the actual glue tape is contained in a little cartridge so no more threading an winding, plus you can swap permanent and non permanent in and out of the same roller, if you so wish.

I got mine from Viking direct, but I’m sure that there are a whole bunch of places in the UK that sell it.
