If I were a bear . . .

A fictional short fat yellow bear who wears a cropped red t shirt, I would say that today was a Blustery Day !

Great for laundry not so great for hair that is more than a couple of inches long

Q – what do beach huts, cameras and vintage cars all have in common ?

A – they all feature in some way on my kit designs.

that’s how many more posts before I start the count down of sneak peeks

First Day of SUMMER – what a lot of . . .

To say I am disappointed with the British weather of late would be a HUGE understatement !

HELLO heatwave over the Easter hols in April, heatwave this time last year – and i have the photos to prove it !

SO today is officially the first day of summer and the longest day of the year, WOW I find the latter fact shocking, that the days are now only going to get shorter, I am not a fan of “dark nights” I think I have a minor case of the S.A.D affliction, I am seriously contemplating installing daylight bulbs in all my light fittings for this winter.

OKAY, so that was my rant of the day (my husband will be pleased to see that in print)

Well I am working, gradually, on the project I mentioned in my last post, it is coming together nicely and I am looking forward to doing the give away, several of the elements are designed and ready to be printed, I am testing different weights of paper at the moment.

Even though I have designed most of the elements myself I am looking into including some commercially available papers too

Keep Watching.

Here comes the sun . . .

Well even if it is only for today it is still worthy of celebration.

Compiling a major to do list for the summer, places to go, things to see as well as chores and tasks that need to be done, I am determined that the summer holidays and any half decent weather we do have should not go to waste. The Summer holidays last year just seem to pass me by and I didn’t achieve anything.

I am also working on a special kit, I will be doing a give away here on my blog starting with my 250th post.

When it was my 200th post I wanted to do a give away but alas I didn’t get myself organised and it ended up being a hollow promise. So the 250th post is going to be it, this is my 236th post so only 14 more posts to go, I think that this kit will require some sneak peeks over the next couple of weeks to get your interest piqued.

I will start off the countdown in my 240th post, so as they say watch this space.

UKS Freebies

HELLO Monday – I wrote that with more enthusiasm than I am actually feeling this morning !

On a brighter note – my designs are making a guest appearance over on UKScrappers again today. A collection of word and date strips for you to use to great effect in your smash books along with a rather stylish camera icon to punch out.

Ten on the tenth

I have been inspired to join in with Shimelle’s ten on the tenth post. although I started this with absolutely no idea what ten things I was going to share, so that stalled me for a while as I didn’t think that sharing my favourite ten swear words was appropriate !

OK, unplanned equals random, so here are ten random things you may, or may not know about me.

1. I love Marmite
2. I love peanuts but HATE peanut butter
3. I occasionally wish I lived COMPLETELY on my own
4. I would like to live within earshot of the sea
5. I am a bit of an eighties rock chick
6. I am a hoarder/collector
7. My DNA is missing the exercise gene
8. I wish I had, had more children
9. I love travel but am a serious homebody
10. I am a lark not an Owl

My latest self portrait !

SMASH Bandwagon

NOPE – I am not jumping on it, well okay, I may be running along the side.

Shimelle wrote a great post about the “should I, shouldn’t I ” dilema that scrapbookers are facing over SMASH books.

I am not indulging in a SMASH book myself but I have designed you all a little freebie, inspired by the SMASH books, but you could use these on layouts or in mini albums too.

Hopefully those of you who have ordered SMASH books will have them soon, so bookmark this post or print and save the PDF, those of you that have made your own books can print off the PDF and get cutting and folding today !

On the PDF you will find little red crosses, these are the cutting lines, once cut the tabs need to be folded in half, easily done with the finger tips if you printed them on paper, if you used card stock then score them first 2cm in, the tabs are 4x4cm square when cut.

The freebie is in the usual place, enjoy and let me know what you think – Thanks

SMASH Books

OK I have to admit I know (knew) nothing about this latest paper crafting idea.

I did some (A LOT !) of cyber surfing and I think I am now au fait with this, not so new, idea. I suppose it is inevitable that everything gets another go around ( I will not however be wearing fluorescent leg warmers and a ra-ra skirt !)

SMASH books are a 2011 twist on the old sugar paper scrapbooks that we used to glue all our favourite memorabilia in as kids, something my kids have bypassed, being born in the E-age.

Whilst the concept isn’t new I have to say the range of “supplementary” products are very appealing. The main suppliers seem to be EK Success through K&Co although NON of these products are available yet and apparently won’t be available in the UK until July. K&Co also have a dedicated SMASH blog that contains ideas and inspiration for using the SMASH products.

My particular favourites are the rubber bands and the pockets, the glue pen is a cool idea too and I can see alot of these products being used in mini books and layouts too.

I may just spend some creative thinking time cooking up some of my own designs for some SMASH-style printables.
